I just returned from a family holiday in snowy Ohio! While I dust off my paints and brushes and get ready to start my morning paintings again, I thought I would take a minute and share one of my favorite keepsakes from college: my design journal.
Let me take you back to 1995 to my senior year at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Design. Our senior thesis was to design 4-5 full head to toe outfits to form a collection that would later be critiqued by a panel of judges. Some of you may be surprised to hear that I went to school for fashion design and not pattern design. Ironically, my thesis consisted of hand painting over 25 yards of silk to create my own pattern.
During that senior year, we kept a design journal recording our ideas and inspiration. I discovered this journal while I was at my father’s last week.
