Over a year ago, I began looking into art retreats. I wanted to learn something new and most of all be challenged creatively. I also wanted a hands-on experience over several days and get away from my studio. So on February 1st, I left for Mexico for a one week printmaking workshop with Oaxacan artist Master Enrique Flores. The workshop was organized by Pratt Fine Art Center here is Seattle. Woodcarving and black iron etching would be my world for 5 intense days. I loved the process so much I have decided to work on linocuts here in the studio. There were twelve students (many professional printmakers). The camaraderie and collaboration were just what I was craving! Now back in the studio, I am refreshed, inspired and full of ideas for new collections and projects! Here is a sampling of my time in Mexico.
