CYANOTYPE - a tin of experiments

CYANOTYPE - a tin of experiments

Let’s explore the world of cyanotypes, also known as sun prints. Most people know cyanotypes for their beautiful deep-blue color, created by exposing specially coated paper to sunlight. But did you know you can experiment with exposure times to create a range of effects? You can also bleach prints with baking soda or borax and tone them with coffee or tea to create rich browns, warm grays, and earthy hues.

Throughout the day, we’ll explore these playful techniques while layering texture, pattern, and nature through the magic of sunlight and chemistry. You’ll receive a small tin filled with prepped papers so you can begin experimenting right away. Once we’ve explored the possibilities, we’ll shift our focus to creating larger finished pieces that are perfect for framing, hanging, or gift giving.

This class is scheduled for four hours. However, if we have a bright sunny day, exposure times could be much shorter and class may end a bit earlier.

  • Beginner-Friendly: No experience required—just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity!

  • Included Supplies: A small tin filled with 15 prepared papers ready for experimenting, plus 5 larger sheets in varying sizes for creating finished, framable artwork.

$105
