This class is for those of you who continued block printing after our first workshop and feel comfortable cutting lino, and are ready to take your printmaking to the next level. We’ll focus on expanding your skills while creating a multicolored block using the jigsaw method.
We’ll work with the safe-wash inks which I love - the colors are rich and the prints turn out beautifully. You’ll design a larger print and experiment with a variety of high quality papers. We’ll take our time, focusing on thoughtful mark making using either battleship grey lino or rubber lino (your choice), and dedicating the day to creating a truly special piece of art.
Saturday, April 18 (10-2), Day 1: We will review the processes of layering blocks and jigsaw printmaking. We will review sharpening your tools. (I go over this in the beginner block printing class but now we will put it to use!) We will design our block(s) and then being carving. You will take this home and continue on your own until we meet the following week.
Saturday, May 2 (10-2), Day 2: We begin this class with a test print. We will critique each others test prints and continue working on the lino until we are ready to print! Critiquing each others work is so valuable! It really helps you grow as an artist and printmaker. I love this part of the creating process!
Supply Fee Covers: a variety of quality papers to print on, all tools including a brayer, cutting tools and more. I encourage the use of Cranfield Safe Wash inks however, water based inks will also be available. You will need cutting tools and a slip strop when you work from home.
Come prepared to deepen your practice, refine your techniques, and walk away with a finished piece you’ll be proud of!
$210 (this price includes all supplies)
